After hours and hours of searching for online solutions, I managed to locate software that should have worked, but didn’t. I *think* scanning using only the software that comes with the printer is impossible you need to use a 3rd party application. However, I could not get it to scan from anywhere. Do they even try to write decent software? I eventually got the printer working on the network from a wired desktop and all wireless laptops. The directions are absolutely terrible and almost useless, as with almost every other printer I’ve ever set up. Hey, better than inkjet!The only real annoyance came with trying to hook it up to my network via Ethernet. I’ve been using it for close to a year and haven’t had to replace the starter cartridge, which I think has less ink than a normal replacement cartridge. I don’t care about these things, but neither is abnormally annoying.I *think* the toner cost is good. I made a half-assed attempt to set the default as toner saver, but failed, so I need to navigate to this option every time I print.The speed and noise are fine I guess. The “toner saver†mode is tricky to navigate to. Double sided printing is an option, and I use it frequently. There was a similar brother printer, the best buy guy said canon was better, but despite rarely listening to best buy guys, I decided to take his advice. This one was on sale for around $200, I think. Despite being over 30 yrs old, my parents insisted on buying me a new printer. I wanted one to hook up to a network, which this one claims to do (wired, not wireless), but given all the previous issues I’ve had with network printing, I had low hopes and was willing to use the USB connection if necessary.Cost was a minor issue. I was tired of the high cost of inkjet ink, and decided I wanted a good laser printer that could also scan and make copies. My old hp scan/copy/print stopped recognizing color cartridges, which for some reason made printing in b/w and scanning difficult/impossible.

And the manual is terrible.Overall, I really like the canon imageclass mf4370dn. All 3 have the same manual.Pros: everything except…Cons: can’t get scanning to work while using the Ethernet connection. Both the mf4370dn and the mf4380dn are similar to the mf4350d, except they have remote UI capabilities (coincidently, one of the worst features).
